WINDOWTREATMENTS(:

Windows. Nice. I like windows. Especially in the summer when your house gets all bright and sunny, its the BEST! Although in the winter I'd rather hibernate in some dark hole... but since I don't think hibernating in a hole is a good idea, I could buy some nice window treatments to cover my windows from the ugly outdoors. There are so many different kinds of window treatments! Personally in my home we just got new wooden blinds installed, they are white. Pretty simple, but nicer than the ugly bendable ones we had before! I have seen on websites and TV shows that people have some pretty funky curtains! They are awesome and can totally be made into some kind of a focal point in a room!

I was looking on Urbanoutfitters.com (as usual) and found some funky window treatments!
Garden Stripe Curtain
These are sheers, and I think they are gorgeous!
For a simple, girly room these are great. I picture them
being in some young girls apartment. OU! I love them!
And also these sheers are only $39.00. GREAT DEAL!
Bright Botanical Curtain Tie-Back
(These curtain tieback would go so well with the sheers above!) :)

Waterfall Ruffle Curtain
OUUU. I am so in love with these curtains.
The colour is FAB. They match the sheets I wanted to get
super funky, and alternative!
TUPPLUR Roller blind Length: 77 " Width: 63 " Length: 195 cm Width: 160 cm
This is called a roller blind... top five ugliest window treatments ever. *barf*

1. Finial; A small ornamental piece on the top of furniture.
2. Tie back; A decorative piece of material used to tie back long curtains.
3. Curtain lining; A thin lining on the inside of a curtain to prevent dust and block light.
4. Valence; decorative drapes
5. Grommets; a special ring or metal eyelets.

OFFICE FURNITURE!

Looking for something for the office..? You want something sleek, slick and something to make you look like a complete stud. So i would definitely go with a desk and computer! The best way to go with a desk for an office is something rather big but not bulky. Go with something darker because it gives a more sophisticated look for an office. A good place to look for one is at costco  and ikea because they sell pretty good quality furniture for affordable prices. They also have very good warranty's on their products, so if something goes wrong with them, you are able to bring it back.

The next thing to look at is finding a computer. Personally i like the look of the Mac/Apple laptops and larger computers. But searching for one for the office, i would recommend the larger screened computers. Macs are very good quality and they can make the office space feel more sophisticated as well. Mac products also have good warranty's in case anything goes wrong.

LAMPS!

Lampy lamps.  Lamps are a good way to give off light but at the same time be used as home decor.  Lamps come in all different styles and colors, and the shade can be changed to fit the room you place it in.  Lamps also come in many different sizes and lengths, such as ones that are meant to be on the floor and some that are meant to be put on a bed side table. A great place to get affordable but beautiful lamps is IKEA. Ikea sells so many different styles, sizes and colors of lamps at cheap prices. I recently got a new lamp shade to put on the one i already have, that sits on my bed side table. I personally like the idea of purchasing different lamp shades because if you are changing the color of a space or moving your lamp to a different space in the house, its good to have options. So i highly recommend getting your lamps of lamp shades at ikea. Also keep in mind the type pf light bulbs you use. At ikea they also sell environmental light bulbs, but they kinda suck because they take a long time to light up. But if you want to me environmentally friendly its worth it.

Here is a lamp base from ikea and its only 20 bucks.
With lamp bases you are able ti pick your own lamp shade!

This lamp is cool because you can bend it
to any shape you want!

This lamp sits on the floor, and it
gives a space light and decor!

RESTAURANT!

Food..yumm! I eat pretty much all the time, and I'm not a picky eater at all. One thing i love is trying new foods. A restaurant that i thought was really cool was BUBBA GUMP! I went to this restaurant when i was in Hawaii on my vacation. Let me just tell you...there food is DELICIOUS! Anyways what i really thought was cool about the place was that it looked like a tree house. There were no windows and they had a giant tree growing out of the middle of the restaurant! The flooring was old looking but re-finished beautiful wood flooring. Because there were no windows, it was the perfect way to enjoy the Hawaiian views! Also they had all sorts of birds the flew in and out of the restaurant windows! All in all, it was definitely a cool dining experience.

CHAIR

This is a very famous chair by Charles and Ray Eames. I saw this chair about 5 years ago when me and my family stayed at our friends cabin. Our parents wouldn't let us sit and eat in the chair because it was so expensive. Back then i didnt really care about a silly old chair but i now i can see i really love it.

This dark stained wood goes so well with the black leather. This footstool is very large and has a very nice shape. The whole chair itself has a nice shape. It doesnt have to much of a cushiony look where it looks like it is old but and it also had a very nice modern conservative design to it. The way the wood sides connect to the arm looks very cool.

The lounge chair also comes in white. i think the white is very pretty and fresh. The sides dont have a raw wooden look but they are still a very dark wood. I, myself like the black and dark wood finish better than the white against the brown wood but that's just me.
The lounge chair comes in many different colours as well. The wood finish can be dark or light as well as the leather. The leather can come in black, white or beige. The wood can have any type of finish to make it look a certain way. I like this lounge chair for anywhere in the house like the living room, office or entertainment room.

DIY

DIY? Of course you can! Do it yourself projects are sometimes the best kind of projects, because they were made from your own hands&your own creativity. I personally love DIY projets of all kinds, decor, gifts, or just fun nick nacks. But i have to be honest, when i first found out we were given a DIY assignment, i was a little worried. Not because DIY projects are a lot to handle, but just because i didn't have a lot of time on my hands. BUT HAVE NO FEAR! After i looked into some DIY projects, i realized not all have to be time consuming. There were tons of projects that could easily be done in no matter of time whatsoever. And so, with that idea&the little time i had to finish, i decide to DIY...

COASTERS!

The DIY project is totally SIMPLE.  All  you need is: an old pair of denim jeans, scissors, a regular sized cup, a pen, and a washing machine.

Step 1: Start off by finding a pair of old denim, works best with a well worn pair.

Step 2: Find a regular sized cup and trace the bottom of it with a pen.  Don't trace the bottom of the cup directly because you want the coaster to be a little bigger than the actual cup.  Trace about an extra inch wide.

Step 3: Cut out the traced coaster by following along the lines.

What your jeans and the coasters should look like post cutting.

Step 4: Throw your coasters into the washing maching for a quick scrub, just to get them a little fluffier&a little more delightful.

Step 5: Finally, place your coaters around your kitchen table (or anywhere else you may need them), grab some drinks, and VOILA!

This DIY project takes litterally 15 minutes to do! SO?  What are you waiting for?  YOU TRY IT FOR YOURSELF!

VIGNETTES

Vignettes.  I must say, i had no idea what a "vignette" was until i read this blog assignment.  And once i understood what a vignette was, i realized i actually have a couple placed here&there around my house.  I think vignettes can make areas and rooms look very pulled together.  I imagine a vignette in a more victorian style home, then say, an organic home.  Though vignettes may not be fit for all rooms and homes, i think they're very elegant and bring a nice touch of class to an enviroment.

A close up of my first vignette&the pearls that lay upon it.

Though this may not look like your typical put together vignette, i believe i would call this a "neatly cluttered" vignette.  Across the back, i've put 3 different picture frames, all different sizes and textures.  I also have perfume bottles mirroring each other, around an open jewelry box.  And then to add a more "everyday" feel, i cluttered all kinds of make-up products, jewelry, and small nicknacks.  My inpspiration for this vignette?  The everyday lifestyle of Noelle.  I've placed a lipgoss there after using it, and a bracelet there after taking it off.  That's where i left it, that's where it stays.  Many of these pieces are sentimetal to me, like the japanese doll  and the pearls from my mom.

This vignette has a different feel.  Not so "neatly cluttered" and more so "clean-cut".  I have a lot less pieces on this vignette, but pieces that take up more area.  My inspiration for this vignette was the ceramic plate on the left,  i love the picture painted on it (is that a vignette?!) and all the bright colors used.  The most sentimental piece within this vignette would probably be the wooden jewelry box, it was totally DIY!
