What's a window without a window treatment? Window treatments like curtains, shutters and sheers arn't just there to add color&character to a room, but also have a purpose. Anyone have those embarrassing moments when you brake out in dance in the middle of doing a house chore? I'm sure we all do, and i'm also sure we'd all like our privacy when doing so, which is where window treatments fit into the picture (or should i say window....?). They're also handy when blocking out sun, or even letting it in. Windows and window treatments go together like peanut butter and jelly. Enough said.
Curtains are one of the many types of window treatments. I personally LOVE the look of curtains, and i think they add a classic touch. Curtains come in all kinds of patterns, fabrics, designs and more. They can really add character, feeling and even a personality to a room. I especially love these Bohemian/Indian style curtains, the detail in the design is just beautiful, and i think they would give off such a calm&peaceful feeling to any room. |

Venetian blinds are another type of window treatment, that gives off a little more of a urban feeling to a home. They can really fit in any room but definitely look great in kitchens (like in the picture!). They are yet again another great way to block or let in sun, with just a quick twist or pull of a string. I especially love wooden venetian blinds because i feel like they add a rich yet simple look to a room. |

And lastly, blackout blinds. Blackout blinds definitely have a VERY modern look to them. They block sun but leave an enjoyable amount through the sheer blinds. Though, blackout blinds do come in many colors and can completely block out sun with colors like black or grey. Blackout blinds also possess a technically modern feel because many types are electronically handled and can be put down or up with just a touch of a button. I remember two summers ago when i was visiting this beautifully large home in the Okanogan, where they had blackout blinds on the patio. With a flick of a switch the blinds would come down, and also fold back up, hidden above your head. They were pretty cool. A little window treatment vocab....
